Integrated Approaches to CO₂ Storage: Experiments, Simulations, and Data
Jakub W. Both is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics and Technology at the University of Bergen. He holds MSc degrees in Mathematics and Computational Engineering Science from RWTH Aachen University and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Bergen. His research lies at the intersection of mathematical modelling, numerical methods, and image-based data analysis, with a strong interdisciplinary focus linking simulations, laboratory experiments, and digital twin approaches for porous media systems, with emphasis on geological CO₂ storage and strongly coupled multiphysics processes. His work has received international recognition, including the 2025 SIAM Geosciences Early Career Prize and the 10th ECCOMAS PhD Olympiad. He is actively engaged in the porous media research community as Chair of the InterPore Norway Chapter.
Olga Mula - University of Vienna, Austria
Olga Mula holds the Chair of Computational PDEs at the University of Vienna since 2025. Prior to that, she worked as an Assistant and Associate Professor at Paris Dauphine University (2015-2022) and at TU Eindhoven (2022-2025). Her research interests are connected to the numerical analysis of PDEs, inverse problems, optimization and the mathematics of artificial intelligence
Anna Skorupa - Silesian University of Technology, Poland
Modeling of Viscoelastic Behavior in Selected Porous Materials
Anna Skorupa is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computational Mechanics and Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. She defended her PhD thesis at the same University in 2023. Her research interests and doctoral work focus on mechanics, computational biomechanics, heat and mass transfer, and applied mathematics, including the application of fuzzy set theory and interval arithmetic in mathematical modelling. In September 2025, as part of a project funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), Poland, she began collaborating with the Porous Media Group at the University of Bergen, where she initiated research on the viscoelastic behaviour of porous materials. In 2026, she was awarded the ECCOMAS Young Investigators Committee Grant (EYIC Grant) to carry out the project Mathematical and Numerical Modeling of Viscoelastic Behavior in Porous Materials.
